Our advisory board members come from a variety of educational backgrounds with a passion for the community.

There are those who hold degrees and certifications in  Nursing, Psychology, Pharmacy, Occupational Therapy, Grief Management, Medicine, Business and Education.

Sharon and Moody Cecil Co-founded We Survive

Sharon Cecil, R.N. is the Executive Director of We Survive since the beginning.  As a registered nurse with a degree in art. Sharon has put her combined education to work creating intergenerational wellness presentations and events.

Moody Cecil, RPh., past board member of We Survive, is a retired pharmacist who has a passion for nature and turned his family home into a “Haven of Hope.”  Moody has gotten pleasure from his passion creating a legacy for future generations.


Melissa Black : Haven of Hope Coordinator

Melissa Black, B.S., has recently graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. Melissa began volunteering in 2004 at the age of eleven.  She is the Haven of Hope Coordinator-Envisioner, overseeing Day of Hope and We Survive Board Member.  Over the past 10 years, her interest has been to take Moody Cecil’s vision and create…”a real hands on learning lab outside of the classroom—nurturance in nature.”


Dr. Ed Kopp :

Dr. Ed Kopp

Dr. Edgar Kopp, D. Min, has been part of We Survive since its inception in 1994.  Served on the Advisory Board from 1994 until becoming a Board Member.  One of Ed’s special projects was Media Mania, where the youth held a press conference to announce and participated in a live talk show.  Ed specializes in Marriage and Family Therapy and Pastoral Counseling


Dr. Marlene Will :

Dr. Marlene Will, Ed.D., is the Wellness the Write Way Coordinator. During the formation and since incorporation Marlene work to help get We Survive recognized within the community, Marlene fulfilled speaking engagements at community businesses and organizations, appeared on TV and did radio interviews.


Jenniffer Truitt :

Jenniffer Truitt

Jenniffer is an Occupational Therapist with 11 years of experience working with special needs children. Jenniffer has worked in the underserved populations of her community for 9 years. Having experienced personal homelessness and poverty as a child, Jenniffer is driven to break down stereotypes and increase emotional development in young people. Passion for reaching every young person drives Jenniffer’s programming and therapy services.
